Q. What is Road to Success? A. A non-profit organization that promotes women's youth (U9-U14) basketball skill development through a compeitive league that plays on Sunday's at Neuqua Valley High School starting in November and ending in mid-February. Q. What is a Wildcat team? A. Wildcat teams are girls youth teams (grade 5 - 8) that play in the Neuqua Sunday league that are comprised of girls that live in school district 204 within the Neuqua boundary. Q. Why are there Wildcat teams in the Neuqua Sunday League? A. The objective is to develop girls basketball skills within a program that develops their skills in accordance with Coach Williams system so that they are ready for high school play. Additionally, the girls will learn how to play together. Q. Who can play on a Wildcat team? A. Wildcat teams are composed of youth players in grades 5 - 8. Wildcat team players MUST reside in the Indian Prarie District 204 within the Neuqua High School boundary. Q. If a player lives in the Neuqua boundary but does not want to play on a Wildcat team will they be allowed to play in the Sunday League on a different team. A. No. If a player lives in the Neuqua boundary and wants to play in the league, they must participate on a Wildcat team. Q. Can a player participate on another basketball team outside of the Wildcats? A. Yes. As long as that other team does not participate in the Sunday League and it doesn't prevent them from adequately participating on a Wildcat team. Q. . Q. How do I get my daughter ready to make a Wildcat team? A. Coach Williams hosts summer development camps for girls basketball at Neuqua high school. All pre-high school ages are accomodated. Q. Who coaches the Wildcat teams? A. Volunteer coaches are selected after a coaching clinic and meeting. The coaches are assigned by Mike Williams, Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Neuqua Valley High School. Q. How and when are tryouts conducted? A. Tryouts are held in early September. Players must register for tryouts in August or at the tryout date. Tryouts are held by grade level at Neuqua Valley High School by the high school basketball staff and former Neuqua basketball standouts. Q. When and where do teams practice? A. Team practices are held throughout the week in the evenings between 6:30 and 9:30pm at various elementary and middle schools in district 204. Teams typically practice twice per week for 2-2.5 hours total practice time. Q. How many teams are there at each level? A. The number of teams range from 2 to 6 each each level (grades 5 - 8) depending on tryout attendance and player ability.
